Giroud Soon To Be A Gunner + Djourou Stays Loyal & More

Good morning from wherever you’re reading. And a good morning it is with reports stating that the deal to bring last season’s Ligue 1 top scorer Oliver Giroud to the Ems is almost done.

This comes on the heels of Montpellier manager Girard revealing yesterday that the striker is keen on joining the Gunners this summer and a deal would be reached, if Wenger agrees terms with the Montpellier president.

At £12m, I see no reason why Wenger won’t get Giroud over. Add the fact that the striker is quoted as saying he will be happy to be in competition with RvP and you just know it’s a matter of time before he is unveiled in Arsenal colours.

Djourou Tweets His Loyalty
“I just wanted to deny all what have been said in the press about my transfer. It isn’t true at all. I have been at Arsenal since 10 years now and I’m always commited to this club.”

That was a couple of tweets by the admirable Johan Djourou, outrightly debunking recent reports of him being set for a move away from the Emirates to Serie A’s Napoli.

What this implies as far as I’m concerned is the player has no intention of leaving the comfort zone of £50,000 per week we’ve made for him although I still think if a good offer does come, the club may listen.

That said, you will recollect that Djourou’s national team boss Ottmar Hitzfeld has suggested that the defender will need to play regular football to stake a real claim for a starting shirt with Switzerland so maybe a loan out will be in order? We await.

Nedved on RvP Mission
Czech legend Pavel Nedved has reportedly been handed the job of luring captain vantastic over to Juventus with Italy’s Of Lady reportedly prepared to offer the Dutchman £180,000 per week.

Honestly, I think it’s a load of crap that Juventus would send Nedved to ‘tap up’ van Persie and can only blame RvP being quoted to say Juventus is a great team for this.

Red Devils Nick Powell
Manchester United have won the race for wonderkid Nick Powell in a four year deal worth about £3m initially, which may rise to about £6m eventually.

And Powell has spoken of his delight in his imminent move to Old Trafford where he is confident he will continue his growth.

It may well be that Arsenal was never in the race to sign the former Crewe Alexandria attacking midfielder who played a big part in the club’s promotion to League One last season, scoring a well taken volley in the League Two play-off final.

Arshavin Reloaded
Finally at the Euros, Andrei Arshavin keeps having us wonder what’s really going on after claiming his third assist in Russia’s 1-1 with co-hosts Poland last night.

Where was this Russian last season before he moved back to Zenit on loan? It’s a good thing nonetheless that he has performed exceptionally so far, thus justifying the £8m price reportedly placed on him by the club.

Do you think we should get what we can now by selling Arshavin or has his form since he moved to Zenit on loan and with the Russian national team given you second thoughts about him staying at the club?

Do share your thoughts below. Have a pleasant day.
