Arsenal vs Swansea : FA Cup Preview

Happy new year to you from wherever you’re reading this, hope you were ushered into it in good health? May it be your best year yet. Unless your bench mark for a great year includes an Arsenal trophy then you might as well start looking forward to 2014.

We’ve been MIA for over a month and I want to say a big sorry and thank you to our readers and followers on twitter. It was out of our control but now everything’s been fixed and your favorite blog is up and running just in time for the 2nd half of the season.

We started off the new year in similar Arsenal fashion, a tepid score draw at St. Mary’s. Thank God we still have that game in hand aye? But before you celebrate our next 3 matches are like a Hell-in-a-cell tournament where we face Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool all in a stretch to end January. You can frown now.

But before any of that, we take a trip down south to Wales to face high flying Swansea in the FA cup and I can assure you they won’t be taken for granted and expect the full team to turn out for this one as they’ve already beaten us on our own turf this season and did the same on theirs last season.

Arsene Wenger hasn’t lost an FA Cup third round tie in so long I can’t remember when, if ever. We always make it out of the first hurdle, so let’s do it again. Our hosts will be at full strength so hopefully we can do what Norwich did to them although I wouldn’t mind a replay so long we win the replay.

Possible Line Up : Szczesny – Gibbs – Mertesacker – Vermaelen – Jenkinson – Arteta – Wilshere – Rosicky – Podolski – Giroud – Walcott

I’m going with starts for Jenkinson, Rosicky and Giroud. Sagna has been very poor and needs a rest, he’ll return for the City game. Rosicky hasn’t played in a while and Cazorla needs to rest too while Walcott should start out wide with Giroud up front. Wenger himself has said it that Theo won’t play upfront all the time.

The Theo Walcott Saga hasn’t ended, no new signings have arrived, we don’t even know the targets the club wants, just rumors and speculation.
Even Thierry Henry won’t be returning which I’m delighted about. Thank God.

It’s not all gloom as the ‘Operation Sweep’ program is in full effect, Djourou has been loaned to Hannover and so too Chamakh to West Ham hopefully to never return. Squillaci is going too. The year is going to be great afterall. So maybe 3-4 new signings should make us all smile and a victory at Swansea make us jolly.

Till then, do have a great day. COYG.
