11 Days, No New Signings And Walcott Still Pending

Good morning to you from wherever this post meets you, hope you had a better night than I did? Went to bed angry and it followed into the next day. To the post then shall we.

It’s the 11th day of the transfer window and despite the lack of movement generally from everyone, Arsenal with their ‘bulk’ of targets have failed to bid, agree a deal and sign not one person. There’s still over 25 days to do that but you can feel the fans getting restless.

Personally I’m irritated and very angry will go on a rant should we not sign anyone, not like my rant will make any difference. Sad part is, should we fail to sign anyone, I won’t be surprised, that’s how much I’ve become accustomed to the struggle and sadness that is Arsenal now.

One could make the excuse of ‘trying to tie Walcott down to a new contract’ as the reason for lack of movement into the club but that reeks of stupidity and zero ambition. How does one player hold so much weight over how you run your team? Why not buy players and then sign him to a new contract at the same time.

This contract saga has left me drained and tired to the point that you’d think I’m part of the negotiations, I’m sure you guys feel the same. There’s just one reason why he hasn’t signed or been offered an improved deal and that’s Arsene Wenger, not him, not his agents. (Yes, contrary to our post yesterday, David Ornestein of the BBC says we’re yet to make any formal offer.)

The transfer window would be so much easy on we the fans if only the club would outline it’s targets for us so as not to have us clutching at straws and believing every rumor in the papers.

We have a grueling run of fixtures coming up that would see us play 5 games in 17 days and I doubt the squad will be up to it. Wenger has failed to rotate the squad enough failing to use the likes of Rosicky, Coquelin, Arshavin and Jenkinson.

Credit to the medical staff for the clean bill of health in the squad, can’t remember when last we had everyone healthy. Still, you can see fatigue setting in with some players. But have no fear, Superman Diaby is back in training and should be ‘like a new signing’. One can only hope we wrap up the signing(s) after the City game or after the Swansea FA Cup replay to help keep the squad fresh and lift spirits of fans and players.

Before I go, there’s a report in the Independent that says we’re in for Loic Remy as well. Horse shit if you ask me. Very average player. Not even remotely interested in him and I’m sure the news is garbage. Makes you wonder how poor our scouting network has become over the years.

That’s all there is for now, we don’t play tomorrow as we’re part of the super sunday schedule, we’ll bring you the preview for that heavy weight clash though. Do have a great day. Cheers.
