Well… Galatasaray now have Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba in their squad. Old men they are, but a major boost for the Turkish giants.
Then you have an already strong Juventus getting old gunner Nicolas Anelka on loan to cushion the waiting period of Fernando Llorente’s free transfer to the Old Lady.
The Red Devils will get by well with you know who just as Shinji Kagawa’s return from injury would, in Wenger parlance, be like a new signing, while PSG added Lucas Moura to the glittering array there.
Arsenal? We’ve seen Demba Ba join the chavs, Yann M’Vila jet off to the Soviet, Lewis Holtby move to the neighbours ahead of schedule and a host of le Prof’s compatriots make Alan Pardew seem like a groupie of the French nation.
Arsenal? Always has to be dramatic with the Arsenal. For one time, we were after David Villa, then the deal was off… last night, it apparently was back on for a reported fee of £16m.
Last night also, the club, according to this report quickly denied being in talks with the Spanish striker. It’s just a typical day from the Grove.
48 hours more before the January window is shut, I honestly won’t be surprised the club is making moves in the market now.
I would however be surprised it was for David Villa. Why? Three names, Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.
Then memory serves the reminder of Gervinho’s exploits at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, and there, dear gooners, is a fourth name. I wouldn’t hold my breath on David Villa coming to town.
More so with Wenger already mentioning his dislike for the January window and how much depth our squad has.
A lot of you gooners get excited too easily, never learn, then moan about the inevitable. Sure I always hope things at the club would change for better but at the moment… nehh!
When a change comes eventually, Alisher Usmanov will most likely be at the overall helm of affairs as he once again stated his desires for the club while making known that King Henry has been urging him to buy a controlling stake of the club.
Would I prefer Usmanov over Kroenke? I would. Besides, the Uzbek is richer than the Yankee and is willing to see the club at least keep its best players.
Wenger also gets the players he actually wants, not just those he can afford due to the constraints of the club’s ‘transfer policy’ and ‘wage structure’.
And by some gut feeling, I just feel the sponsorship deals the club would be getting under the chairmanship of Usmanov sould be more lucrative. Time will tell.
For now, we have a match against a wounded Liverpool side to prepare for, and these links to Villa, Stevan Jovetic and Mohamed Diame among others now known and not yet known are but distractions to the task at hand.
Do have a pleasant day wherever this post meets you. And share your thoughts on David Villa and Alisher Usmanov below or with us on twitter.

It’s looking more and more likely that the only business we’ll be doing in January is getting current players to sign new contracts.
I think Walcott will not be an Arsenal player soon, and, Wilshere will follow soon after.
Know one know wengers mind lets wait till last mins of the transfer.
I am with Usmanov because he has fans feeling in his heart. Our sold away players are now champions in their clubs Nasri, kolo, Glichy with man city Adebayor with Madrid last season, Cesc with barca (super cup) and this season RVP and Song WILL be champs
I wil luv to see David villa in arsenal,as for usmanov,i wil luv him to own arsenal completely.am a die hard arsenal fan.gunners till i rest in peace.
I love to see villa in arsenal shirt nd kroenke to be the may chairman
I am beginning to suspect IF Arsene Wenger and all the board members are not agents of our rival clubs because their actions dont show love for the club they CLAIM to love. They are good in making other clubs win trophy but THEY Cant win while in Arsenal
Pls tell wenger 2 sign villa, diame n dey should let usmanov take over
